Position Summary:
To maintain the facilities, grounds, and to perform any necessary tasks to support the daily functions of our schools and the day-to-day functions of the Operations Department.
Essential Duties: The Facilities Support Technician I is responsible for performing the following:
- Perform furniture moves and floor work as required
- Gather and distribute supplies, materials, furniture, mail as required
- Maintain school grounds including mowing, trimming, pruning, and clean up
- Removal of snow and ice from walkways, ramps, parking lots, and other areas of the school properties
- Maintain parking areas and walkways and perform necessary tasks to repair or prevent hazards that could adversely affect patrons of our facilities
- Maintain and repair equipment used to perform the assigned task of your position, and report any further equipment needs or repairs to your direct supervisor
- Operate a variety of vehicles, equipment, and tools
- Assist other trades in areas related to overall maintenance of the school properties when assigned
- Gather and distribute meals and/or food products as required
- Clean and organize storage areas as required
- Accept and process deliveries as required
- Set up for special events
- Other duties as assigned
Performance Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to safely operate vehicles and equipment
- Ability to function effectively in adverse weather conditions
- Ability to communicate and work with the public and to maintain an effective working relationships
- Ability to compute simple mathematics
- Working knowledge of maintenance and custodial operations
- Ability to coordinate and lead others in the completion of tasks or projects
Essential Qualifications:
The qualifications noted below are required to enable the employee to perform the essential duties/responsibilities of this position.
- High School Diploma or G.E.D., related job experience, Associate’s Degree preferred or other trade certifications preferred
- Working Knowledge of maintenance and custodial operations
- Good communication skills; comprehends and efficiently follows instructions/directions
- Must be able to work with a variety of tools and equipment
Physical Demands: The physical requirements indicated below are examples of the physical aspects that a person holding this position must perform in carrying out essential job functions.
- Sufficient vision to read printed material and see distant objects with clarity.
- Sufficient hearing to hear conversations in person and hear sounds clearly up to 50 feet
- Ability to speak in an understandable voice with sufficient volume to be heard in normal conversation.
- Ability to exert up to 75 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects
- This position requires physical demands for extended periods of time
- Sufficient manual dexterity and/or mobility to grasp and/or manipulate objects
- Ability to work in tight areas including pipe chases and tunnels
- Ability to work in high places, utilizing ladders, lifts, and scaffolding
