Special Projects and Manager: 

 

The School District of University City seeks a dynamic team player to work as a Special Projects Manager. The purpose of the role is to manage renovation projects, complex maintenance and construction projects. The Special Projects Manager provides direction to team members of the operations department; and schedules work within established timeframes and standards.  

 

Reports to: Executive Director of Operations 

 

Job Duties: 

  • Coordinates activities and functions (e.g. pre-bid conferences, vendor presentations, informational meetings with varied staff, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring best practices in the procurement of services. 
  • Evaluates requisitions, change orders, and bids used in the acquisition of supplies, equipment and/or services.
  • Ensures compliance with bid and/or order documentation as well as practice proper use of district funds. 
  • Manages projects (e.g. HVAC/mechanical system replacement, flooring replacement, asbestos abatement, asphalt repair, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining facilities and meeting operational requirements.
  • Participates in acurate budget development and monitors budget allocations, expenditures, fund balances, fiscal practices, and other related financial tasks. 
  • Performs quality assurance inspections for the purpose of ensuring work is performed to specification, meets codes, and standards. 
  • Recommends plans, specifications, and cost estimates (e.g. electrical, carpentry, plumbing, heating and air conditioning, etc.) for the purpose of implementing repairs and initiating improvement projects. 
  • Recommends maintenance policies, procedures and/or actions, providing direction in order to meet district goals and objectives. 
  • Supervises and enforces a safety program for the school district, reducing hazardous accidents, and verifying compliance with regulatory requirements. 
  • Responds to emergency facility situations during and after hours, resolving immediate safety concerns.
  • Researching, preparing, and facilitating community updates for the Board of Education presentations.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree in the job-related area, such as Engineering, Construction Management, or Business Administration
  • Job-related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is required
  • School district-related experience preferred
