ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teach music according to curriculum guidelines specified by the school district.
- Maintain ongoing curriculum evaluation and development to meet the needs of students.
- Collaborates with other faculty in the delivery of appropriate instructional approaches, working to serve all various learning styles and needs.
- Co-teaching with other string instructors
- Implements curriculum and instruction in a manner consistent with the District's mission statement.
- Shows empathy for and understanding of students.
- Share ideas and observations with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Develops with parents and students a cooperative partnership based on mutual respect and objectivity.
- Facilitates resolution of problems that might arise with students and parents.
- Assesses student performance frequently, formative, and objectively.
- Continues intellectual and professional development.
- Follows guidelines and policies established by the Board of Education.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Bachelor's Degree
- Expertise in string instruction
- Suzuki trained preferred
- Missouri Teacher Certification (Music) is preferred
- Willingness and ability to travel between buildings (around the district)
- Comfortability with teaching elementary and middle school students
- Comfortability with assisting other strings teachers with sectional work and instrument tuning
- Experienced with teaching string players
- Passionate about teaching music
- Able to inspire student enthusiasm
- Positive and optimistic regarding young children and their musical abilities
- Comfortable teaching violin, viola, and cello
- Ability to provide group lessons
