Parent Educator

The Parent Educator reports to the Principal or other designated supervisor and is responsible for supporting the families assigned to them.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Schedules, plans and completes home visits with district families that have children prenatal to Kindergarten age.
2. Maintains complete up-to-date records per home visit, screening program andend-of-the-year report guidelines.
3. Conducts screenings for children 6 months to kindergarten age during home visits or at the Center in accordance with program guidelines.
4. Collaborates with other Parents as Teachers staff members to plan and facilitate group meetings.
5. Attends PAT staff meetings and meetings with supervisor.
6. Completes yearly training and certification requirements in accordance with program guidelines.
7. Turn in weekly timesheet by Monday with completed home visit records.
8. Turn in local travel logs monthly for reimbursement – no later than the 5th of each month for the previous month.
9. Participate in ongoing recruitment.
10. Turn in weekly schedule by Friday for the upcoming week.
11. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Desired:

Sincere desire to work with and help educate children and parents

Ability to motivate others, be creative, flexible and patient

Must be willing to participate in training (paid by the district) to become certified

Certified in Parents as Teachers Curriculum

Associate's, baccalaureate or advanced degree in early childhood social work, human services with extensive experience in counseling

Other skills, based upon specific assignment

Year:               Student Academic year

Hours:             Various (6-10 visits per week, each visit 1.5-2 hours, evenings and weekends included) Paid Staff meetings required

Salary:            Commensurate with experience/education
