Reports to: Principal and Safety Wellness and Restorative Lead
Essential Job Functions:
- Ensure the safety and wellness of the students and community members.
- Establish and maintain good rapport with students, staff, and community members.
- Implement and establish restorative support for students.
- Assist with facilitating restorative circles for the purpose of community building, repairing harm, restoring relationships, and re-entry into the school community.
- Regulate students’ behavior on campus, in cafeterias, restrooms, parking lots, and other open areas.
- Keeps unwanted visitors out of the building and off the grounds.
- Reports maintenance concerns to appropriate school personnel.
- Monitor and confront unauthorized persons for questioning and checking for passes and identification as needed.
- Assist in the development and implementation of action plans to provide a safe environment and immediate response to imminent threats of violence, criminal incidents, emergency medical incidents, and others.
- Investigate, review, and report to school administration and local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies, as appropriate, on accidents, incidents, and violations of law.
- Assist law enforcement officers as directed by the school administration.
- Follow district policies and administrative rules and regulations.
- Maintain proper paperwork/reports to ensure all complaints filed with law enforcement have been signed off by the principal or their designated representative.
- Ensure doors/gates are locked and opened at designated times determined by the principal.
- Supervise and monitor assigned school activities.
- Observe and report violations of safety and health codes.
- Demonstrate problem-solving and responsible decision-making skills.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain and project professional appearance as it relates to job performance.
- Monitor and set up for after-school events as assigned.
- Assume fire alarm responsibilities as assigned by the principal.
- Monitor security surveillance equipment to protect facilities and assets.
- Submit work orders as needed.
Qualifications:
- A high school diploma or GED is required.
Required Skills:
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Outstanding relationship-building skills
- Ability to redirect students without diminishing relationships
- Experience and training in social and emotional learning, and trauma-informed practices are preferred.
