Position Purpose Facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing district approved Social Studies curriculum.
Essential Performance Responsibilities
- Execute Social Studies curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives.
- Teach knowledge and skills in English grammar and syntax, sentence and paragraph structure, vocabulary and proper word usage, word denotations and connotations, creative writing, independent thinking, communication and speaking.
- Develop standards for critical analysis through group discussions on a variety of reading materials.
- Work with students and others to prepare materials for inclusion in literary publications, contests, etc.
- Conduct ongoing assessment of student learning and progress, and modify instructional methods to fit individual student's needs, including students with special needs; conducts individual and small group instruction as needed
- Continuously engage in professional learning for the elevation of curriculum delivery
- Organize and maintain a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting of all student activities, achievement and attendance as required by district procedures
- Welcome and encourage parental involvement and ensure effective communication with stakeholders
- Effectively engage students at high levels as to encourage focus on academics
- Promote a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning
- Translate, consistently developed, lesson plans and instructional materials into learning experiences that develop pertinent sequential assignments while challenging students
- Deliver lessons that promote critical and creative thinking and analysis
Minimum Qualifications
- Missouri State Certification in Social Studies or Social Science for 5-9 and or 9-12, whichever is applicable.
