Description | Reports To: EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS AND MAINTENANCE/CUSTODIAL SUPERVISOR
Position Summary: To maintain the grounds of District buildings, open areas and other facilities to provide a pleasing, safe and healthy interior and exterior environment
I. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintains school grounds including; mowing, seeding, weeding, planting, watering, pruning, trimming, and clean-up
- Removal of snow and ice from walkways, ramps, parking lots, and other school areas
- Maintains street, parking areas and walkways by repairing chuck holes and cracks, marking, posting of signs, sweeping, snow removal, curbing drainage, lighting and litter collection
- Maintains the equipment used in the performance of these duties and responsibilities
- Maintains athletic fields as directed
- Perform other duties such as assisting maintenance crew, moving school equipment and handling special projects
- Operates a variety of vehicles and equipment
- Responsible for all equipment, vehicles, tools and other equipment
- Assist other trades in areas related to overall maintenance of the school system when assigned
- Performs all other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Operations and Maintenance/Custodial Supervisor
- Perform duties of building custodians as needed or required
II. PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
? Valid Missouri Driver’s License
? Ability to safely operate district vehicles
? Ability to function effectively in adverse weather conditions
? Ability to communicate and work with the public and to maintain an effective working relationship with auxiliary personnel, teachers, patrons and all school administrators
? Ability to compute simple mathematics
? Working knowledge of maintenance and custodial operations
III. ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
The qualifications noted below are required to enable the employee to perform the essential duties/responsibilities of this position.
- High School Diploma or G.E.D., related job experience, Associate’s Degree preferred
- Working knowledge of maintenance and custodial operations
- Good communication skills; comprehends and efficiently follows instructions/directions
- Must be able to work with power equipment

- Sufficient vision to read printed material, see distant objects with clarity, and identify and distinguish objects
- Sufficient hearing to hear conversations in person and on the telephone, and hear sounds clearly up to 50 feet
- Ability to speak in an understandable voice with sufficient volume to be heard in normal conversation and on the telephone, and in addressing groups
- Ability to exert up to 75 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects
- This position requires standing, walking, sitting, bending, running and reaching for extended periods of time
- Sufficient manual dexterity and/or mobility to grasp and/or manipulate objects, operate mechanical equipment, and move about the work area
- This position will subject the employee to work environments that have exposure to weather or interiors with extremes of heat and/or cold, wet and/or humid conditions, high noise levels, and various work related hazards
- Ability to work in tight areas including pipe chases and tunnels
- Ability to work in high places, using ladders and scaffolding
- Ability to work in potentially dangerous situations, including gas equipment and electrical equipment
